Ilac Centre

Castlethorn’s redevelopment of the Ilac Centre in 2006, saw the once tired and outdated shopping centre reclaim its position as a key player on the Dublin retail scene.

The Ilac Centre has been a major feature on the Dublin retail landscape since it first opened in 1981. Located in the heart of the northside, adjacent to Henry Street, Parnell Street and Moore Street, the centre was a hugely popular destination for many years. But by the 1990s, it had become tired and underappreciated, and footfall had considerably decreased.

Castlethorn, in partnership with the co-owners, began redeveloping the centre in 2006. The transformation saw the refurbishment of the entire space, bringing it in line with contemporary retail standards and allowing the Ilac Centre to re-establish its position as a Dublin landmark.

Alongside significant investment in Arnotts department store, the revitalisation of the centre has ensured that the Henry Street area remains a favoured shopping destination in the city.
