Swords Pavilions

The redevelopment of Swords Pavilions saw the significant redesign and upgrade of this North Dublin landmark, raising it to modern retail specifications and reinvigorating the commercial centre of the town.

The Swords Retail Masterplan set out a strategy to revitalise the town centre of Swords and reaffirm its position as a retail destination. Key to the plan was the rejuvenation of Swords Pavilions shopping centre and the creation of a link between it and the town’s other main retail facilities.

Castlethorn worked closely with the local authority to agree the plan and led the redevelopment across the 16.5-acre site. Starting with a commercial viability review, the centre was redesigned to meet the needs of modern retailers, and the newly built shell extension was reconfigured to provide shoppers with direct access to the Swords Central scheme.

The team also secured planning permission for a Phase 3 extension of 800,000 sq ft and a new rail connection.

To ensure the centre meets the highest industry standards and provides the level of services expected by modern retailers, Castlethorn also oversaw an extensive upgrade of the existing M&E and facilities management systems. Swords Pavilions now counts major retailers such as Zara, H&M, Next and River Island among its tenants, along with anchor stores Penneys, SuperValu and Dunnes Stores.
